In the HSMAI section, you’ll find articles that challenge traditional norms and offer fresh perspectives on optimizing commercial strategy. Though hospitality is often considered lagging in technology adoption, we remain committed to pushing the boundaries of conventional thinking and embracing data-driven innovation.

I'm thrilled to write my first introduction for the HSMAI section of Hospitality Upgrade as the relatively new CEO of HSMAI. I have been a fan of Hospitality Upgrade for many years, and I appreciate our ongoing partnership.

In Debunking Commercial Strategy Myths, Kelly McGuire explores five widely held misconceptions that may be hindering the development of a unified, effective commercial strategy.

Jennifer Hill, in Reimagining Length-of-Stay Strategies: Extended Stay's Rising Star in Hotel Commercial Strategy, spotlights extended-stay models — a recent darling among hotel owners and investors. Her analysis underscores how reimagining length-of-stay strategies can unlock significant revenue potential and drive enhanced profitability with today's changing traveler landscape.

Caryl Helsel’s Rethinking Hotel Success: Moving Beyond RevPAR calls for a broader perspective in assessing hotel performance. By urging us to look beyond traditional metrics like RevPAR, Helsel advocates for the adoption of deeper, more meaningful KPIs to capture the true success of our operations.

Together, these pieces underscore the importance of innovation, data-driven insights, and a willingness to rethink established paradigms. As you explore the ideas presented in the HSMAI section, I welcome you to consider how these insights can inspire and shape your own journey toward a more resilient, forward-thinking approach in commercial strategy
